Master Malee to Lead U.S. Team at 10th World Wushu Championships
October 23-29, 2009
From October 23 to 30, Master Malee will be in Toronto, Canada, serving as the U.S. team manager at the 10th World Wushu Championships. During that time, all regularly scheduled tai chi and kung fu group classes will be taught by instructors and assistant instructors.
This will be the fifth time since 2007 that Master Malee has led a U.S. team to an international or worldwide championship. The last time was in December, 2008, when she was the U.S. team manager for the 2nd World Junior Wushu Championships in Indonesia.
While Master Malee is gone, tai chi classes will be taught by instructors Susan White, Louis Graff, Cindy Hoag, and Anthony Roberts. Kung fu classes will be taught by Anthony Roberts and Jon Torre.

Malee’s School’s
15th Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, November 21, 2009
Starting at 2 pm at Malee’s School
Dinner at 4 pm at Royal Buffet
Malee’s School will be holding its 15th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 21, beginning at 2 pm. An hour of performances at the school will be followed by dinner and a party at Royal Buffet (see below).
This year the church where we usually hold the celebration was booked for November, so the event will take place at Malee’s School instead.
This year we are also making a few minor changes.
First, the performances will take up less time than in previous years, and they will focus more on the variety of performances, with a focus on our most experienced students and instructors. We hope this will make the experience more enjoyable for everyone.
Second, we will not be doing a potluck dinner this year. Instead, dinner will be held at Royal Buffet & Grill. We have reserved a large party room there with a movie screen, DVD player, and a karaoke machine. The buffet has Chinese, American, Italian, and Japanese food.
Ticket prices:
Adults: $16
Seniors (65 & over): $14.50
Children 6-11: $11.50
Children 3-5: $6.75
Please contact us to purchase tickets.
PLEASE NOTE: All prices are the regular prices for the restaurant, plus a 15% tip and one beverage (free refills for soda and coffee). You won’t be charged anything at the restaurant unless you order refills for juice or buy alcoholic beverages.
2010 Asia Trip
In 2007 Master Malee led a group of students and friends on a trip throughout China. Now there is growing interest in a two-week trip to Hong Kong and Thailand, or perhaps other locations, in the summer of 2010. If anyone is interested in doing such a trip, please contact Master Malee.
Welcome Back, Ruth!
In July, 9-year-old Malee’s School student Ruth Tian traveled to Nanjing, China, to train in wushu every day for over three months. Master Malee had introduced her to a coach and friend of hers, Grandmaster Qian Yuanze, who also visited our school in 2006 and 2007. Ruth took daily lessons from a student of Grandmaster Qian.
Now, at long last, Ruth is returning to the U.S.A.! Please show your support and friendship by signing the card for her, which is available at the main table in the school waiting room.
Congratulations to Jon Torre
We are also happy to extend congratulations to Jon Torre, who passed his black belt test on September 12, 2009. Great job, Jon!
